Living the American Farm Dream: 3 Years Strong!
Hey everyone, Jacques Faith here! For many South Africans, working on American farms seems like a distant dream. Well, let me tell you, that dream has been my reality for the past 3 years, and it’s been an incredible journey! (not easy, but rewarding).
Financial Security and New Skills
This opportunity has truly made a difference in my life, especially considering the economic challenges back home. Not only has it provided financial security, but it’s also opened doors to exciting new experiences.
Take this past harvest season in Wisconsin, for example. We’ve been working flat out to get everything ready, including building a massive 90,000-bushel corn bin! It was a brand new experience for me, and absolutely mind-blowing. You can actually see the scale of this beast in one of my YouTube shorts – it takes a whopping 125 truckloads to fill it!

From Truck Driver to John Deere Combine Operator!
These past few months have been challenging, but incredibly rewarding. And the best part? I never expected to be piloting a John Deere combine! That’s right, I came here with a truck driving contract, but thanks to this amazing opportunity, I’m now experiencing the thrill of harvesting crops. This truly feels like a blessing!

Wisconsin is absolutely stunning! Here, farming takes place on hillsides and even mountains – something I never thought I’d see. It’s breathtaking, but also a little nerve-wracking (safety first!).
Another perk of living here is the convenience of Dollar General stores. They offer great prices on groceries, which helps me save even more money to send back home.
And let’s not forget the fall season! The entire area explodes with vibrant colors – reds, yellows, oranges, browns, and even light orange hues. It’s a true testament to the beauty of nature, and a constant reminder of our amazing Creator.
Overcoming Fear and Trusting in God
As the saying goes, “Fear kills more dreams than failure ever does.” My advice? Don’t let fear hold you back! Pursue your dreams with courage and trust in God’s plan. For me, the past few years have been a true testament to His provision. He will provide for you too!
